Barcelona are set to make a major attacking reinforcement, having reportedly agreed a deal to sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford on a season-long loan. The 27-year-old England international is expected to join the Catalan giants with an option to buy at the end of the loan, valued between €30–35 million.
The deal marks a significant move for both clubs and the player, with Rashford becoming the high-profile left winger that Barcelona have been actively seeking. The Spanish giants had previously shown strong interest in Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams and Liverpool’s Luis Díaz but have now turned to Rashford to strengthen their forward line under new manager Hansi Flick.
Rashford is expected to arrive in Catalonia within hours to complete his medical and sign the necessary documents. If all goes to plan, he will be part of Barcelona’s squad for their upcoming pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea.
As for his squad number, Rashford is likely to don either the No. 14 or No. 19 shirt. The No. 14 carries a legacy at Barcelona, famously worn by Johan Cruyff and later Thierry Henry—one of Rashford’s childhood idols. The No. 19, on the other hand, is one Rashford wore during his early years at Manchester United and was most recently vacated by Lamine Yamal, who switched to No. 10 following Ansu Fati’s transfer to AS Monaco.
This move to La Liga presents a fresh chapter in Rashford’s career after a mixed spell at Old Trafford. With Barcelona’s attack now boasting more depth and flair, many analysts believe Rashford could thrive in Flick’s high-pressing, fast-transition system.
Barring any last-minute hitches, all eyes will be on Rashford as he prepares to make his mark in Spanish football—a move that could redefine his trajectory and offer Barcelona a new attacking weapon as the 2025/26 season approaches.
