Ugandan-born four-time Grammy Award winner Matt B arrived at Entebbe International Airport on July 22, 2025, alongside his wife to a hero’s welcome. The celebrated artist was received with great honor by Ugandan media personalities, bloggers, and social media influencers who gathered to celebrate his historic return.
In his remarks, Matt B gave special shout-outs to Ugandan music producer BIT and Bash Killa, who were featured on his Grammy-winning album ALKEBULAN II, which clinched the award for Best Global Music Album. Notably, two of his Grammy awards mark the first-ever Grammy wins for an artist from East Africa, a milestone that has inspired pride across the region.
Matt B, along with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, delivered an emotional acceptance speech at the 2025 GRAMMY Awards ceremony after their victory in the competitive category. Other nominees included Paisajes by Ciro Hurtado, Heis by Rema, Historias de un Flamenco by Antonio Rey, and Born in the Wild by Tems.
In addition to the celebration of musical excellence, this year’s GRAMMY Awards are actively raising funds through the MusiCares Fire Relief campaign to support victims of the recent wildfires in the Greater Los Angeles Area. All proceeds will directly assist those affected within the community.
